A game that seemed headed for disaster for Arsenal finally turned into a moment of relief for Arsene Wenger, who had come under mounting pressure from fans over the squad’s inability to match its talent with silverware.
“This one’s for the manager, for the fans, who’ve always believed in us as well even when things weren’t going as well,” Ramsey said.
After collecting the team’s first trophy since the 2005 FA Cup, Wenger was covered in champagne and thrown in the air by his players.
