The narrative for the United States going into this World Cup has been how are they going to get out of the group of death? Well the same goes for our friends across the pond, as one could certainly argue that England in Group D, in which all four teams are ranked in the top 15 of the FIFA/Coca-Cola World Rankings, is actually in the group of death.
Group D: England, Costa Rica, Uruguay, Italy
England: If you listen to Grantland’s Men in Blazers podcast, you can get an Idea of how England soccer fans are split. One side stubbornly pessimistic after years of high hopes followed by heart break, and the other convinced this a new England infusing wily old veterans such as 33 year old Steven Gerrard with young sparkling talent like 19 year old Liverpool player Raheem Sterling.
